HARMEN DE JONG - Consultant

Harmen holds a master's degree in Business Administration from RSM Erasmus University in Rotterdam and is currently enrolled in the CFA program. In addition to Dutch (mother tongue) Harmen is fluent in English, German and Indonesian.

Following several years of professional experience in blue chip companies like Rabobank and British American Tobacco in the Netherlands and a position in a business development role for a service provider to the shipping and dredging sectors in Indonesia, Harmen moved to the UAE in 2006.

In Dubai he worked on a range of management consultancy assignments for leading organizations throughout the Middle East. Examples include an M&A project for the government of Dubai, an activity based costing project for a leading container terminal operator, financial due diligence on an industrial launderer in Dubai for a German multinational, a gap analysis on Qatar’s national public transport provider and a valuation of a significant player in the global boat and yacht manufacturing industry on behalf of a Kuwait based private equity firm.

Harmen also gained deep exposure to the hotel and real estate sectors working side-by-side with the planning and development section of a prestigious hotel and hospitality management company. He worked on numerous due diligence engagements and was involved in various hotel developments both in the Middle East as well as in Asia and South America. Activities included financial statement analyses, interviews with target management, financial modelling, verification of land right issues and zoning regulations, and background checks on target’s shareholders and management team.
